Stem
Definition
What is the Stem in Watches?
The stem, also known as the crown stem, is a small rod that connects the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) to the movement inside the watch case. The stem allows the wearer to set the time, date, and other functions of the watch.
How it Works: When the crown is pulled out to its first or second position, the stem disengages from the movement, allowing the wearer to adjust the time or other functions. Once the adjustments are made, pushing the crown back in re-engages the stem with the movement, securing the watch’s settings.
